Out on the road at 4:44am, staying in a Days Inn in Lexington, Nebraska with my wife sick, my dog suffering from a neurological disease that makes him walk into walls and another 1,056 miles to go, a searing migraine and the faint echoes of this day three years ago in my head, wondering if there's any possible way we can still win this election with an electorate so easily swayed by lies, with my lower back in spasm from carrying the pooch up stairs and sitting in one position for four days, you'll have to excuse me if I have nothing inspiring to add to today's conversation.
Posted by irw at September 10, 2004 11:51 PMWhat is wrong with poor Chopes? I spent a good amount of the summer of 2002 taking our beagle to a vet neurologist (I didn't know there even was such a specialist) -- he recovered once they figured out what was wrong with him, but I can definitely relate to lugging him up the stairs, etc. Hope all is well. Be sure to get Chopes on the right antibiotic, if needed.
If Chopes hasn't seen a vet it sounds to my vet fiancee like it could be worth a trip soon. Dogs can start walking into walls for lots of reasons, but brain cancer is one of the common causes in old dogs, and sometimes it's operable. A subset of these operable cancers (as well as some inoperable ones) can kill a dog within a day after the obvious symptoms show. Just a little more info than what you give might make it easy to rule out those dire scenarios, but in its absence and in the public interest, if not Chopes', I thought I ought to mention them.
