knowing the way to san jose

5/4/06

Before we go back to New York for a month or so, Lucy wanted to show everyone what she learned to do last week!

And only a few minutes later, look how much better she got!

Yeah, YouTube automatically turned them sideways, but whatever - I'm so proud of our little girl!

Love that learning curve!!!!! And with the bi-coastal life she's leading, she'll soon be auditioning for all the great modern companies on BOTH sides of the U.S. With apologies to xuxe, to hell with a grrrrl band, Lucy COULD turn out to be a kick ass modern dancer, eh?

In less than a week, you won't be able to keep up with her. Yay Lucyboots!

A few years ago when I was living and working in Raleigh, my boss used to bore us all with potty anecdotes about his small son. I thought to myself, "this is some unproductive shit... how can he inflict this pain on my twenty-something mind?" Now with a four year old and a 21 month old, I happily inflict my mini-Mrozkowski propaganda on any captive audience. To date, most of the stuff my little angels have done I thought worthy of the praises of angels. On Tuesday of this week, I learned that one really lousy 2 year old at the daycare had transmitted lice to my youngest. And you know what??? I even began to share that information with anyone who would listen because I was sure that Georgia's lice would be legendary.

Growing up an adopted child, my parents always seemed embarrassed about anything I did. I am so proud to have two children in which I hope I never feel an ounce of shame. I love to witness their struggles, triumphs, illnesses and recoveries. I love to look at these lives so full of hope and promise and raw human imperfection and know that my acceptance and pride is the same stuff my God, Creator, Great Wizard in the Heavens feels when He or She looks at me/us.

A few days ago I was giving Wyatt "a talking to" over some rotten thing he did. He sat silently a moment or two and then said, "What is it called when you still love me even though I do bad things?" I said, "it's unconditional love, bro." He said, "You know, you have unconditional love for me, Mommy."

And was then I realized that propagation is more than just hope for one's own DNA to continue existence, it is hope for the ages.

Congratulations to Lucy-- and you and Tessa. This is when the fun starts.

When I went to look at the video, I turned on my speakers, and I had accidentally left my winamp playing. So while I was watching Lucy walk, I was listening to "The Boxer." It was perfect. What a sweet moment for all of you, and because of your generosity, for me.

That's pretty darn cute. This blog makes Lucy feel like a 2nd cousin to me, once removed of course. I love it.

Have fun in NYC.
