A few items to clear up for today:
- TO BEGIN, the dates for the New York Fringe Festival have been announced, and Gideon Productions' Air Guitar musical is opening and closing the festival. I think this one is going to be utterly phantasmagorical and not to be missed. With Sean's musical chops, Jordana's bizarrely inspired lyrical twists and Mac's usual kick-ass dialogue, I'm as psyched for this one as any of their oeuvre.
Select which show you want and buy tickets here. Do it now so that they get written up quickly as a fast seller.
- HOWEVER, Lindsay and the 24-Hour Play Company are also celebrating their 10th year with a stint at the Fringe. I encourage all of you to see as many as these shows as possible, as they feature our friends Mac and Dan.
- IF, THOUGH, you want a double-header of Williams Family Goodness (and who amongst us doesn't), you've got the magic date of Saturday, August 26. At 1pm that day you can see "Air Guitar" on the Lower East Side, grab an excellent Italian dinner in Soho, and then see my 24-Hour Play at 8:45pm in the West Village that very same night. It simply couldn't be sweeter. Here are the tix for those two shows:
Air Guitar at 1pm 8/26
The 24-Hour Plays at 8:45pm 8/26
There will no doubt be a party that night. Somewhere.
- AND, AS FOR YOU, or at least those of you who didn't think Lucy and I could dress ourselves while Tessa was away, my daughter has an ensemble for you:

she picked the shoes herself
She canʻt help but have style, considering her parental units.
What a doll!Aloha,
lisa
Just curious: What IS a 24-hour play?
Congrats on all you guys' success!
Same question as CL.
Such a sweet little hippie -- and great shoes, too!
She looks cool enough to beat this city heat! I have several friends whose work will be staged/read at the Fringe this year - can't wait to see as much as I can!
Ugh! My NYC trip will probably begin on the evening of the 27th. Story of my life - a day late and a dollar short.
ian, be honest--did you dress lucy in tribute to your beloved clamshell ibook from a few years back?
the 24-hour plays work roughly like this: 6 writers, 6 directors and 20ish actors meet at 10pm. the actors introduce themselves, their skills and what they won't do (or want to do) onstage. actors and directors go home. writers write short plays overnight. directors and actors arrive in the morning and rehearse all day. shows go up at 8pm and are done by 10pm (24 hours!).
Also, the Fringe festival does this thing where you can get five tickets to "the festival" all at once that are cheaper than five regular tickets. You can use more than one of those five at any show, so if you bought the five ticket deal, you could bring a friend to Air Guitar, then get dinner, the bring a friend and your mom to the 24 Hr Plays.
Unless your mom wants to see both shows. That's something you'll have to discuss with your friend.
Sounds cool. Thanks!
Hey, CL, take a look at www.24hourplays.com to find out more (though jordi pretty much nailed it). That blog doesn't give much history, it's just an easy way for us to post things and have them end up on our main site.
Just about half of the UNC theater grads that lived in NYC in the past decade, and almost every performing member of the Willaims/Blake clan, have done the show at one time or another.
(Mom Worsley, we're still waiting for your 24 Hour Musical).
Thanks fer asking, though.
Go Air Guitar! Yay 24!
Well, not exactly "approved"...I haven't seen it! But good luck...
Oh my god, Bjorn himself! I was just saying the words, no idea Mr. Turoque would pay us a visit. Consider me a fan!
