bank holidays

8/6/06

Because traffic is down, heat is up and exhaustion sets in August, I'm going to be posting only 2-3 times a week until Labor Day. I've also got a backlog of scripts I'm excited to tackle, and since human beings rarely have more than a thousand good words in them a day (with notable exceptions) a lot of those are going to be spilling into Final Draft. Or another program, as soon as someone makes a better one.

It's not that I don't love each and every one of you. You know that, right?

tackle away. I'm tackling rewrites and slightly confounding, seemingly contradictory yet ultimately helpful notes.

write on! (I love that. so dorky...)

ps -- saw your pals XB and SC leaving the arclight friday night. I don't know them personally so obviously didn't bother them, but just imagined him yelling at you for playing very loud frustrated basketball up beachwood. (even though I know you guys are now boys.)

pps -- he absolutely oozes cool, and she was glowing.

Gosh, I feel just like that. I can't waste words on anything. Just like I can't waste valuable reading time on trash. I finished all my appointed summer reading and it's the first week of August. What will I do?

So, yes, it's okay that you spend your creativity, time, and energy on other things. We love you for it.

OH GOD!!!!!!!!!!! Just when I thought August could not get any worse, with the heat, my car crash, my failed attempt to lose weight this summer. . . . and now this. August sucks. I better start upping my Lexapro amount.

But, these are all my personal problems. I wish you luck in your professional endeavors!

Ah, cast aside as the collective mistress so he can spend Xmas with his "real family" :-)

LFMD...you can always come up with topic for the day the next time you need your fix.

Guest bloggers!!!!

We love you too, doll. But especially Lucy.

What Mary said. Try to post the occasional pic of La Luz. Good luck with the writing.

lfmd: car crash?! what car crash? i haven't been able to check ian's blog recently so maybe you already mentioned it. hope it wasn't too horrible.

per just andrew's comment, how about guest blogging from ian's fam?

Posted by: GFWD at August 7, 2006 07:19 AM

Oh hell no. If nothing else just say CODE WORD and come up with a topic. You can't not post. That would be a double negative indeed.

On a bizarre unrelated note to your not posting, I had a dream that I was invited to one of your outings. But it wasn't the Jartacular. It was like LollapazIANfest. Everyone in your readership was there with friends and family and it was like Field Day meets Woodstock meets Summer Camp. Weird dream, but cool vibe.

Finally, one of your frequent contributors, Mr. Zel M (his psuedonym) just had his second child this weekend. Congrats.

I second Just Andrew's and Lyle's idea of guest bloggers. I still have fond memories of Kent's beautiful Valentine's Day post. And Ian, as others have said, maybe you could keep posting with a lighter diet of Lucy pictures and CODE WORDs. It would give you something to do when your brain just won't let you focus on scripts anymore . . .

Hi Lyle -- no, no, no, . . . my car crash was not horrible. No one was hurt. It was a moment of idiocy in which I sideswiped a parked car on my way out of my community. I was not paying attention and I feel like an imbecile. Plus I have to pay the deductible for it. That's all.

Dearest Ion,

Obviously I love you and the whole family (the Bug in particular) with all my heart and I want you to do what you need to do in order to keep life flowing smoothly. Of course I will miss the Mon-Fri blogs (though I missed a lot of last week's, being in Maine), but I third the guest-blogger idea and proffer my own services, along with the givens (Michelle, Sean, Kent, Mom, Steve).

I regretted not being available to comment on the post-apocalyptic life-skills post, as you referred to my Luddite tendencies, because I thought I should confess that my vegan, bike-riding, cell-phone-less days recede ever so gradually into a dim and irrecoverable past...not that I've got cable, or an iPod, and I do drive a car that runs on biodiesel, yet these days it is hard to be without internet and cell phone (as my Luddite pal Bud already confessed). In Maine I had neither, and although it was deeply relaxing in one way, in another it was a serious pain in the ass. I'm mixed, I'm on the fence here. But I do see clearly the advantages of living off the grid, both for the individual in question and the world at large.

another vote for code word, guest writers, or just a lucy photo. by the way have you read the book desperate networks? just finished it - really interesting look at the business of tv and makes me appreciate the many hoops you and tessa have to jump through to get something done.

Yay, punch up those scripts so all of America can enjoy your brilliant words!
