and RAPPELS

12/5/06

You know, all of you were robbed of a perfectly decent blog today because of the following game:

FowlWords(bl).jpg

Download the version for your computer and you'll see why I stopped writing an award-winning entry for you lot and concentrated on getting the word "OCCLUDE."

So I ask: besides your most humble servant, what is your favorite obsessive time-waster on the internet?

That's like asking a mother to pick her favorite child! I'll give you a few: Snood, Websudoku, Pink is the New Blog, Cute Overload, and Etiquette Hell.

Entertainment Weekly (ew.com)
Text Twist on Yahoo Games
idontlikeyouinthatway.com
Perez Hilton (perezhilton.com)
Television Without Pity (televisionwithoutpity.com)

There are other things I do on the internet, but those are my biggest time wasters, by far. Gosh, I'm shallow.

Claudia, here I was thinking we'd always be butting heads on the issues and you go and bring up my favorite time waster when I was in law school . . . SNOOD.

Posted by: emma at December 6, 2006 5:21 AM

If you like Snood (and I love Snood and have even taught my 6 year old to play), you should also try Bubble Shooter. I usually just have to delete the games off my computer or I will waste hours on them.

Never been a game-player. My son is addicted to some Penguin Island (?) game online, though. We're actually shutting him off because his school work is suffering. Oy.

This blog is the only one I read.
During "work," I look at the usual news sites and the local paper site, but so much is blocked by The Man other than that...esp. EBAY!
But my guilty pleasure is on Mondays when I pull up the NYT Wedding announcements that appeared on Sunday.

For you gossip fans, this site offers answers to just about any blind item out there. Truly addictive:

http://artwc.org/Billie/BLINDITEMS/MAIN/MAINPAGEBLINDITEMS.html

I've escaped from the Crimson Room and the Viridian Room...haven't tried the White Room or the Blue Room yet. But these little mystery games will drive you crazy. Luckily, when you've wasted enough time, there is plenty of help out there on the interwebs:

TV comedy writer/radio announcer Ken Levine (MASH, Frasier, Cheers, etc) has a fascinating blog that I do not let myself miss:

Anything Bill Simmons writes on Espn.com

And of course, Defamer.com, Gawker.com, and Deadspin.com (for the sports fans out there).

I echo my bro here with--ugh--myspace. I'm starting to hate it, a little. If it's just a musical journey it's fine, but I can get lost in vortices of checking out totals strangers' photos and comments. Aaaaaaaaggghh! HATE that.

Hmmm, in a given day, I'll waste time on any combination of these:

Trashy celeb gossip...

bricksandstones.blogspot.com
www.idontlikeyouinthatway.com

Other crap...

And I find myself on YouTube alot. Has anyone else seen this Post-It note video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qC_-Nx2CWR4

Ian, you devil!
Another word game to make me totally and completely unfocused and useless into the late night/early morning hours. This one is so much fun, and compatible with MAC!
My husband is going to have to find even more patience to deal with my addiction to wordgames without end!
