little bowl of milk, just waiting

8/21/07

I'll be traveling to NYC today en route to two delicious events: Hail Satan tonight at the Fringe, and then the Budster and Bap's wedding in Charlotte for the weekend. As such, packing and a last-minute Hollywoody intrigue will keep me from being particularly lugubrious until Monday.

HOWEVER... the suggestions and lists from Monday's blog have been so amazing (and priceless) that I'm going to post a master list here with images, so it can be of service to others going down the same road. If you have any more ideas for books, please keep posting on that thread so I can get the list worked up.

See you on the motherscratchin' East side, boyz!

Ah, Charlotte. My new home!
You know I would babysit Lucy while you attend the festivities!

Poo - I'm pretty sure we're going to be out of town, otherwise I'd beg for a Nick/Julia/Lucy/Connor playdate! (Scruggs, we still need to get together!)

Hey, Ian, if you need any suggestions for kid-friendly stuff to do in the uptown area/neighborhoods, let me know! There's a great sprayground over in Plaza-Midwood (Veteran's Park) and a good one with a better playground over in Dilworth (Latta Park). Discovery Place has a fun toddler room (Connor loves the giant water table), though I'm sure it doesn't compare to anything you'd find in NYC.

I can't wait to see the big book list. I've already started adding suggestions to my Amazon wish list.

Congrats on the Hollywood intrigue (and I hope it's the good kind).

And congrats to the oft-mentioned Bud and his bride.

CL! What is the word on your nuptials?

Blessings to Bud and Baps--I am heartbroken not to see a) Hail Satan (read all about it last night) and b) y'all in NC. We head out to Burning Man on Saturday...otherwise I might have barrelled right down 85 South and crashed the reception!! With hoops!!

So happy for the bride-&-groom-to-be, so bummed to miss yet another play--can we have more notice next time? I WILL buy a ticket to New York...

Hey, Laurie from duke - are you a member of charlottemommies.com? Wondering if our paths have crossed since you would be a member of Central like me. I'm over in Dilworth, but have a ton of great friends in Plaza Midwood and we're constantly over at Veteran's to cool off!

I wanted to tell you that I'm moving to Park Slope in nine days, and I wonder if you have any advice for me. I've lived in Chapel Hill for ten years, and I love it here. But it was time for a change, and my boyfriend got a really good job opportunity, which seemed like a good way to move to New York and to be with him. We're going to live on Berkeley Place between Seventh and Eighth Avenues. I haven't seen the place yet, but I've heard that it's a really great area. So if you or any of your readers have any tips to give, please send them to alysonpeery at gmail dot com. Thanks!

LFMD, they are coming up!! More word after they happen, so as not to jinx them. ;)

Alyson, you will be living about 400 feet from us, that is, when we're in NY (November-January). Congratulations! It's truly the best neighborhood I've even known short of London. Fuck anybody who makes fun of Park Slope - they can suck it!
