this won't hurt a bit

4/3/08

I had periodontal surgery in the afternoon, and lemme tellya, it just ain't the same since dentists stopped busting the nitrous oxide. In order to preserve sterility, they had to put two sticky sheets of plastic over my face, therefore pinning me to the seat like Munch's "The Scream", then covered my eyes and stuck oxygen tubes up my nose.

Personally, I'm not claustrophobic and tend to enjoy having so little choices, but I could see how most other patients would freak out. As such, they give everyone three Atavan and some narcotic syrup by rote, just to weed out the potential spasmoids. The surgery itself was fine, vaguely uncomfortable, but I was really hoping for more fun with the Atavan. They were saying stuff like "some patients get up and start talking in made-up English and start pushing random buttons in the elevator." I said, "you're going to turn me into my daughter?"

Sadly, none of that happened - I didn't have any crazypantsing at all, in fact, I was remarkably lucid all the way home. And then I lay down in bed at 12:30 pm, turned over, opened my eyes, and it was 8:15pm. What the fork?

Anyway, much to do now, because I'm going to meet the rest of my 407 Grimes Dorm roommates from 1986 - Chip and Jon - late tonight in fabulous SAN ANTONIO! Anyone else going to be there? WHOO-HOOO!

Go Heels!

Brendan, expect another iTunes check. Of course, I don't know what your share of $0.99 is, but I just bought Weight of the World. I like it. What else in your catalog sounds like that song?

Go Heels!

if there is a reason, I will be there Monday

I'm so proud of my 8 year old son Samuel. His vocab. word yesterday was "moccasin" (no idea why), which is technically a 'heelless slipper made of comfy leather'. Sam wrote this as his sentence featuring the new word--"The North Carolina Tar Heels wear blue and white high-top sneakers, not moccasins."

Way to go Alamo! Have a stupendous trip and root hard.

OMG--I just realized that Roy used to coach Kansas... and that's who we're playing in the Final Four! WHY has the media failed to cover this story? You'd think Roy would have been asked at least one question about this...

Sigh.

I so envy you going to San Antonio. I'll be heading to see Springsteen Sat. night, so my life doesn't entirely suck. GO HEELS!!!

Whoa. Rock. This is the last place I ever expected to get new fans for my music. Thank you, GFWD! Any further questions about the music, please feel free to contact me offa this completely unrelated blog entry. (Sorry, Ian!)

And the sad news is: my bandmates and I will probably see 9-11 cents of that 99 cents. We are, however, reorganizing so that we'll be selling mp3's directly from our site - like coulton, or radiohead - and we'll keep almost 90% of that.

maybe you need to stop attending games in person for awhile

Ian... Popping in on this older post to say I'm so sorry about UNC's loss to Kansas. What a roller-coaster of a game! Want you to know I watched it only because of your passion, as expressed on this blog. I was utterly captivated, and felt as if I were living and dying with the guys in light blue out there. :-(

Thank you, Anne, for the condolences. I have gotten so down about the game...dreamed about it last night....thought about it all through the day. It hurt me. I've been thinking about Tyler and Ty and Roy all day, how they must feel--the team leaders--it must hurt them the most. I wish I could just cry and get this lump out of my throat, but I can't, quite. I too felt that I was living and dying with the team. This is why the first 36 years of my life were a blessing, because I never cared for a team this much.
