In the "surprisingly bearable" department lands "My Fellow Americans," ably acted by two of our most loved codgers, Jack Garner and Jack Lemmon. It's a mystery to me why Garner hasn't been in all kinds of movies lately; his portrayal of the aging democrat ex-president is as steady as it is profane. Lemmon also shines as the midwestern Republican who has been Garner's bitterest rival for thirty years. Forget the plot (a silly scandal involving current pres Dan Aykroyd that forces the two old presidents on the lam) and just take in the dialogue. These two veterans can polish a turd like nobody's business.
