John Travolta has another solid hit with "Phenomenon," the story of a man who is suddenly rendered with a superhuman I.Q. through mysterious means. Travolta is fine in this weepy New Age manifesto, and the movie itself edges the fine line between pathos and bathos. In all, a guilty pleasure. With Kyra Sedgwick and Forest Whitaker.
