Howard Stern is one of the few people whose gargantuan egocentrism actually comes off as endearing, and "Private Parts" is particularly unapologetic in this arena. Following the his autobiography fairly closely (minus all the crap about celebrities), the movie traces Howard's career path from his childhood in New York to his landmark DC-101 gig to his current role as "King of All Media" in Manhattan—always stopping along the way to talk about his views on censorship, his wife and of course, his genitalia. Directed by Betty Thomas with the same you-are-there narrative that made "The Late Shift" compelling, "Private Parts" doesn't always know what it wants to be.
