Like they say, every generation has their "Romeo and Juliet," and indeed, the Zefferelli version from 1968 has faded from the filmgoing unconscious. Enter the hot new media constructs Leonard DiCaprio and Claire Danes, and a script that has moved from 15th-century Verona, Italy to present-day Verona Beach, California. Purists will whine, but this new version is electric, intense, and frighteningly well-made. With John Leguizamo.
